Hard Part’s Over: All Finished but I Really Need Your Help!

Whew! I finished editing all 50 scenes of my scene outline for Warfare Book I!

I SERIOUSLY NEED YOUR HELP THOUGH—KEEP READING!

I updated each scene with scene question and answers, my research, and little historical things I had to fix (or, if I had to change them for the plot, wrote down the best way to communicate the change for the reader), and then added in all the actual character names instead of…

1. Travel Director or TD
2. 2nd Advisor or Advisor 2 or A2
3. 1st Advisor or Advisor 1 or A1
4. NAME-OF-RANDOM-ADVISOR
5. Thief Child
6. Wife
7. Female Loyalist Horsemen Guard
8. Loyal Bodyguard

XD You get the idea. To satisfy your curiosity, their names are now (let’s see if I can remember them!):

1. Minato Deren
2. Erin Konran
3. Sakai Tadakiyo
4. Yaku Tallinn
5. Eriya Subete
6. Christel Schrijven (Dutch, I know. There was a Dutch trading post in Nagasaki at the time. I DID MY RESEARCH. >:))
7. Keiti Erenoa
8. Kaden Senki

I won’t say which ones are evil, because that would ruin the whole point of my painstakingly foreshadowed clues, but I reeeeally wanna. *whimpers*

I also made a list of on-the-fly male and female Japanese names I like in case little minor characters needing to be named pop up in the first draft, then named other minor characters that had dialog and might need to be distinguished when speaking.

As for the scene question and answers, I learned about this from Josie. And because it was genius, I went ahead and did it tooo. >:) Here are a few examples from my updated scene outline:

Scene #3:
Question: Will Hinoki get over his distraction with romance?
Answer: No, but he’ll come up with a decent solution.

Scene #7:
Question: Will Ari find a way to escape?
Answer: Not yet; someone offers to help her instead.

Scene #13:
Question: Hah, can Ari make it to the party [where she’s having a mission] on June 30th without any trouble today?
Answer: Never. >:)

Scene #14:
Question: Can Ari get to the westerner’s party without any trouble now?
Answer: HAHAHAHAHA

Scene #15:
Question: Will Ari be able to escape from Kazanawi?
Answer: Yes, but only to be captured by Hinoki!

Most people would say I was in rare sorts that morning at 5 A.M. (in which I updated 36 scenes in one sitting) after seeing all my HAHAHAHA and HEHE and >:) and 😉 and ❤️s. But I wouldn’t, because that isn’t rare. I’m like that 100% of the time.

Maybe the chocolate-covered cherries contributed, even though they were expired.

Oops.

Ate ’em anyway.

AND NOW I NEED YOUR HELP!

I’m on the hunt for music to listen to while I write Warfare Book I. I have a few good songs already, but after scouring iTunes and all the artists I knew of that might have what I wanted, I’ve come up dry. I need something fresh, epic, battle-y, intense…

Would you be willing to help me? I’d love any recommendations! Here is what I’m looking for:

  • Epic tracks that sound exactly like THIS:

AHHHH IT’S SO INTENSE AND PERFECT, GUYS.

That’s a small and, sadly, the only instrumental snippet from Intro 2 by NF. Most of NF’s stuff would be perfect—so epic and dramatic! … if only it was instrumental. I can usually tune out lyrics pretty well; I’m listening to Christian rap as I write this, haha; but I don’t agree with some of the theology in his songs and wish he’d come out with instrumentals of his stuff already. XD

  • Preferably instrumental.
  • By a Christian artist. I don’t discriminate against other artists for not believing in Jesus (what a jerk I would be!); I just put an importance on filling my mind with music that agrees with my morals, values, and has a good, clean, God-honoring spirit behind it.
  • Nothing on YouTube. I’m willing to buy songs on iTunes, but as I’m not allowed on YouTube, giving a link to a video on there wouldn’t be helpful. XD
  • Basically, super intense, exciting, upbeat, dramatic, tense, what I’ve Madi-labeled as “epic” music tracks. XD

DO YOU HAVE ANY MUSIC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ME BASED ON THE POINTS ABOVE? DO YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC WHILE YOU WRITE? DO YOU WORK WELL WITH LYRICS OR CAN’T STAND ‘EM?

I’m so excited to being writing Warfare Book I on January 1st!! AHH!!

P.S. Something’s in it for you, too.

P.P.S. YOUR LIFE. IF YOU SUGGEST NOTHING YOU DIEEE.

Haha, you came to the right person! The below are available on iTunes and are completely instrumental.
    – The Maze Runner soundtrack
    – Planet Earth II soundtrack *raises eyebrows*
OMGOODNESS THESE SOUNDTRACKS ARE SO AMAZING AND EPIC AND ahem. That’s over forty songs (I think forty. I know there’s a lot XD) full of complete epicness 😉 . Good luck!

    Yay! You’re getting so far!
Haha, I’m the worst person to ask for “epic” songs, because I’m more a Nichole Nordeman gal. However, my bro is into Christian rap.
I know these aren’t instrumental, but I listen to piano instrumental, primarily. (I can recommend the instrumental Narnia soundtrack though).
But here are some Christian rap suggestions…
    Aaron Cole- Right on Time
Tauren Wells- Undefeated, Love is Action, Never Gonna Let Me Go, Nothing But You, Supernatural, All My Love
I’m so sorry these aren’t instrumental! I wish I could be of more help. 🙁

      Thank you so much, Kendall!

Ahh, I LOVE Tauren Wells! I have a ton of his songs. I’ve only checked out Aaron Cole briefly, I’ll be sure to check out that song! Thanks again, Kendall!

Hmm…sorry, but I don’t have many songs by Christian Arists. :/ They’re all CLEAN, but personally, I know no Christian artists whose songs I actually like. XD

I don’t use iTunes, so I don’t really have any recommendations… The only dramatic and epic music I can think of is the Star Wars music hahaha. I’m okay with lyrics, but sometimes I accidentally type out the lyrics while I’m writing instead of my original idea XD It’s hilarious at times.

    • Madi December 18, 2017 at 12:35 pm - Reply

LOL, I do that sometimes with school. One time I looked up and my penmanship page was dotted with not what I was supposed to be copying, but lyrics from the song I was listening to. XD Thanks anyway, Starling!

Not sure if I’d be much help, because I don’t listen to much music, much less Christian music. I’d suggest scores from movies. I have scores from movies and rides constantly running through my head.

    Hope this helps.

I don’t listen to the same type of music you do, but you might like https://www.ambient-mixer.com if your wifi doesn’t block it. It’s basically sounds to make you feel like you’re somewhere else, and I looked and they have some Japanese ones that might help. YESS! EPIC SOUNDTRACKS! I got a good one, Madi, that is from an epic Fan fiction i am writing. It’s all instrumental, the guy is not Christian as far as i know but there is no singing that would be like :P. It is super intense and awesome, especially Colosseum Finale. It is: Sean Callery’s 24: tv show soundtrack. It is EPIC, MAN! Hopefully this ITunes link works….https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/24-original-television-soundtrack/id203054742

So yeah! That’s the epicness right there. Lol, i listen to it while doing schoolwork and writing and rping. It’s just awesome. Hopefully you like it!

    Btw, can’t WAIT for Warfare!

There is on iTunes some albums that are epically awesome (I have the same problem with music) They are:

    Agents of Fiction

    Dramatic Flight

    Hopeful Mystery

    Epic Journeys

and then some movie soundtracks (Narnia! ?)

    I hope these help.

  15. Kendra Lynne December 18, 2017 at 1:57 pm - Reply

“He’s A Pirate” from the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack is pure EPICNESS. I don’t know whether the composer was a Christian, but its only instrumental and I love to listen to it while writing.
If I’m listening to songs with lyrics, I nearly always listen to Christian music, but with classical/instrumental movie scores, it doesn’t really matter.
Also, the entire soundtracks from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies are epic and amazing. Completely instrumental except for the credits-songs, but they are very good and the lyrics are good.

When writing I can hardly stand listening to songs with lyrics because either I just HAVE to sing along, or its far too chaotic for my mind while I’m working on a story. Either way its distracting. But for blog posts I like to listen to something hip-hoppy with lyrics. 🙂

    Three words.
    Adam.
    Young.
    Scores.
I listen to a track of this at least once a day. Adam Young, aka Owl City, is a devout follower of Jesus (he has said that religion is the only thing more important to him than music). He felt that the show business was getting to him and wrote soundtracks for history for a year.
    And the other best part?
    THEY’RE FREE.
    LIKE, COMPLETELY FREE.
It sounds too good to be true but here is the link. Happy listening – I suggest R.M.S. Titanic and Shackleton’s Journey.

    Aaaahhh, yay, Madi!!

Alright, I’m going to raid my music…..

The Lord of the Rings soundtrack, the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack, and the Hobbit soundtrack. Not sure if the composers of those soundtracks are Christian, but the songs are mostly just instrumental and the LotR and Hobbit songs with lyrics are absolutely beautiful.
I’d recommend Thrice Welcome, Out of the Frying Pan (And Into the Fire), and Jack Sparrow for the songs without lyrics, and then May It Be and Into the West for the ones with lyrics.

Okay, I think that’s all I can think of…. for now. XD

I have nothing to offer you musically. My life! Dies. 🙂 LOL! I honestly am the complete opposite. I need utter silence when I’m writing otherwise I get totally distracted. Lyrics totally distract me too. So do nine year olds, and nine year old’s noisy friends running around in my house which is most of the time. Luckily I can write full time while she’s at school. Anyway, this was pretty much as unhelpful as it gets. To the gallows with me. 🙂 Happy Writing!

There are some really neat music by Two Steps From… I’m not going to type the rest, but if the last part comes up with an e, a a couple L’s and an h, that’s it. Some of their music is awesome, some isn’t. And some has lyrics. There’s only two albums I really like of theirs: Vanquish and Battlecry. And then there’s Marvel’s Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. (Track 23 and 28 ?)

Ooh, I know! Look up Derek Fietcher or Brandon Fietcher. They’re Christians that make INCREDIBLE instrumental music. They have a whole album on ITunes just for imperial and Chinese dynasty music that reminds me a lot about the book you’re writing! They also have intense pirate music, calm fantasy songs, and more. I think you would like it!
